From: Excalibur on 11 Aug 2006 10:01 I came in this morning and my 1581 drive had a steady amber light. I reset everything but when it powers on it makes no noise and the amber light stays steady. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to which component has most likely failed? Excalibur's Stone BBS DMBBS HeadQuarters bbs.excalibursstone.com 6400 Running DMBBS v5

I'd check it with a volt meter, it should be outputting exactly 5V and 12V, or darned near. I think when this happened to me the power supply was outputting 12V fine, but the other line was putting out like 3.8V.

Sounds like a %VDC Problem to me as well. I've had that happen to me a few different times as well and fixing the power supply usually fixed it. If not, then it's your controller chip and that might find a bit difficult to find out there these days. Good luck nevertheless, Charles> 8-Bit Designs
From: Leif Bloomquist on 11 Aug 2006 19:29 If it turns out to be the power supply, I have about a dozen left over. I can sell you one real cheap (need to purge the living room of C= stuff ;-) -Leif

Hold one of those supplies for me Leif and I'll let you know by the end of the weekend if that's it and I need one.
