From: xtera on 5 Dec 2006 15:13 Hi I just bought a 1950xtx and asus P5NSLI. i I can post with one power supply and play games fine . I am using a dongle and when I use one dongle that pins on bottom I see i have 2 positive 12 volts and 4 ground on the molex. . I can post fine when I use the one of the dongles comming from the adapter. . It only turns on when i use the one dongle on the pci-express adapter. My existing power supply has 20 pin atx mobo connector and 4 pin for the mobo my rails for 12 volt are 19 amps 3.3v 35amps +5v 45amps -5v 0.5amps -12v has 0.8amps this is a 580watt power supply . i can post fine and play games . But im using a 20pin and mobo has a 24pin . Ive tried another power supply but it would not even start with it but other supply has less amps in its rails . Im only using one 12volt rail to vcard I see two rails but im only able to post with one. when i use the 20pin for mobo and the one rail 12volt to vcard i can post in windows everything is normal. but it reboots sometimes when im it boots only with one rail to 1950xtx not two .
From: First of One on 5 Dec 2006 22:09 According to Anandtech, the X1950XTX draws as much power as the X1900XT under full load: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2821&p=13 On 12V, the X1900XT draws about 4 A through the PCIe slot and 6 A through the 6-pin connector, according to this article: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/power-noise_4.html If the mobo has a 24-pin receptacle and your PSU has a 20-pin connector, I suggest you don't just plug it in and leave the 4 pins vacant. Many other Asus boards allow this because they have a 4-pin Molex receptacle (so-called EZPlug) near the PCIe slots. The P5NSLI doesn't have it, so buy a cheap 20-to-24-pin adapter patch cord. -- "War is the continuation of politics by other means. Visited ati and they show the certified powersupplies for 1950 series and other series . I bought the thermatake from list and now it works with pci-e 6 pin molex pci e adapter and tested again with 3dmark 06 this time I was able to get through all the test with reboots. System now stable. i just turned it off for day and bought the supply today paid 99 plus 9 bucks tax. so came to be like 109 took the other supply back and got my 60 dollars credit toward the thermatake . My 3rd pc and this one is my overvall best in quality. I benched in at 4th place in 3dmark 06 with top scores . |
