From: Miguel De Anda on 6 Apr 2008 20:12 Anybody here having problems getting a 2.6.24.4 kernel to boot? mine gets stuck for about on udevtrigger then gets stuck indefinitely with the following message: Using /etc/random-seed to initialize /dev/urandom. I've tried adding and removing the hardware based random number generator and it does nothing. I've tried 2.6.24.3 with same results, I'll try a few others but I think I need the latest for some keyboard drivers that I need. I've got an all-intel machine. (dual core) Core Duo (not core 2 duo > though) Let me get this straight You had the machine installed and running Slackware version ??? running Kernel version ???.???.??? and you are now trying to use newer kernel versions 2.6.24.3 and 2.6.24.4 Now the computer seems to stop booting at Using /etc/random-seed to initialize /dev/urandom What version of Slackware did you install? Assumption would be 12 What version Kernel did you have running? A 2.4.x or a 2.6.x? When you say you tried adding and removing the hardware based random number generator. How did you do this? Did you change a Kernel option? When you say I tried Kernel 2.6.24.4 what kernel settings did you use? The same as for the previous kernel you had running? I did try copying the .config from the default kernel and had the same problem.
