Prev: Went from Win2k XP Pro, now it won't boot
Next: Lost my "Driver & Utility CD" for ABIT/KU8 motherboard
From: ben.tan on 19 Feb 2007 00:49 Alright here's what I am trying to do I have 4x 750GB drives in SATA1-4 (RAID5) and 2x500GB in SATA8-9 (RAID1) I am trying to use the RAID1 for system and RAID5 for data When I build the operating system it won't let me continue unless I create a partition in the RAID5, even though I have set the boot order to the RAID1 first and RAID5 second. So after installing the OS the boot info is on the RAID5 drive. The odd thing is that after installing it won't boot at all! ONLY if I leave the OS CD in the drive, it will say 'press any key to boot from CD' which I don't of course and then it will load the OS successfully. BUT if I don't have the CD in the drive then it fails to boot. (This is obviously because the boot info is on RAID5 and that RAID1 has nothing) Somewhere along the line during the OS install it still thinks that the RAID5 is still the first boot drive which it's not supposed to be! Any ideas? |
