ANN: XP Day Manhattan, October 13, 2007.

Have you ever had six months' work flushed because your customer
decided he never really wanted that set of features? Us too. That's
when we decided to learn about extreme programming (XP), which focuses
on minimizing the cost of change. That was 8 years ago. Now, we want
to help people avoid the pain we felt, so we started XP Day North
America.

Diaspar Software is proud to present the fifth installment of the XP
Day North America conference series, in Manhattan on October 13,
2007. Intentionally inexpensively priced to encourage the XP curious
($249 US including breakfast and lunch), the conference focuses on:
1)Presenting to the XP curious how XP practices work to minimize the
cost of change while delivering high-value software.
2)Helping people who want to start practicing XP in their current work
environments.
3)Bringing together current XP practitioners to exchange ideas and
share their experiences amongst the attendees.
4)Making top experts accessible at Open Space and after the conference
(beer is on us).

Our program for XP Day Manhattan includes:
1)A keynote by Steve Freeman. Steve Freeman is an independent software
consultant. A pioneer of XP in the UK, Steve once led the largest XP
team in the country. Previously, he has worked in research labs (Xerox
and Digital), software houses, consultancies, and has written shrink-
wrap packages for IBM. Steve has degrees in Statistics and Music, and
PhD from the University of Cambridge.
2)A tutorial by JB Rainsberger, a leading authority on test-driven
development and author of JUnit Recipes: Practical Methods for
Programmer Testing. JB has counted one of the world's largest
companies among his clients, helping hundreds of programmers, business
analysts, managers and executives adopt Scrum with XP.
3)A tutorial by George Dinwiddie, a software development consultant
and coach with over twenty years' experience. He has helped create
software ranging from small embedded systems to corporate enterprise
systems. With a strong interest in lifelong learning, he has pursued
more effective ways of creating software at the technical,
interpersonal and organizational levels. His specialty is helping
teams become more effective while helping them accomplish their
current project.
4)Open Space. Host a topic yourself or attend a topic another
conference attendee has decided to host. Leave any topic when you
want. The focus here is on high collaboration and has a neat side
benefit of meeting other attendees without awkward self-
introductions. There's plenty of room, the space is superbly run and
the conversation is lively. You can collaborate intensively with both
local and invited advanced practitioners on issues that interest you
most.

The conference costs $249 US and includes breakfast and lunch.
Registration is limited to 100 attendees. To register visit
