From: Daniel on 15 Feb 2008 22:07 Hello I have a friend who is going to buy a Tablet PC which comes with Windows Vista Home Premium edition, but, due to work issues, she needs to be on a Domain, so she is going to buy Windows Vista Ultimate, I was wondering, is this edition suitable for her Tablet PC (since it's coming with Home Premium Edition). I think there should be no problems with the new Vista version but I rather ask the experts. Thank you!!!
From: Sven on 16 Feb 2008 02:24 The only issues that might come up are driver ones, which should not be an issue between Vista Home Premium and Ultimate, IMHO. One interesting feature with Vista is the upgrade option. You can go to MS and they will provide and upgrade, for a fee of course, rather than buying a while copy. It's about $150 from Home Premium to Ultimate IIRC...I looked into it for a tablet I have. You might also just see if the OEM will provide the tablet with Vista Business or Premium in the first place. -- Sven MVP Mobile Devices "Daniel" <Daniel(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:D29A9D6E-A9DB-4E46-BE99-0F26934EA6BA(a)microsoft.com... > Hello > > I have a friend who is going to buy a Tablet PC which comes with Windows > Vista Home Premium edition, but, due to work issues, she needs to be on a > Domain, so she is going to buy Windows Vista Ultimate, I was wondering, is > this edition suitable for her Tablet PC (since it's coming with Home > Premium > Edition). > > I think there should be no problems with the new Vista version but I > rather > ask the experts. > > Thank you!!!
From: Daniel on 18 Feb 2008 16:47 Hello Sven and thank you for your answer. In fact the Tablet PC will come with a OEM Vista Home Premium, not Business (if so there should be no problem at all) but the fact is that my friend already bought Windows Vista Ultimate, so the Upgrade Option is no longer an option hehe :) But thank you for your advice. That means that, if I format the Tablet PC and install Windows Vista Ultimate, the Tablet PC will still have its features (touchscreen, text input, and so on) right? Best regards Daniel "Sven" wrote: > The only issues that might come up are driver ones, which should not be an > issue between Vista Home Premium and Ultimate, IMHO. From: Sven on 19 Feb 2008 00:19 I would say you need to visit the OEM website to ensure the drivers are downloadable. They are surely the same drivers for the Tablet specific items, but are currently buried in the restore CD, not in a stock copy of Vista. You won't get all the features from a clean load of Vista, and you probably don't have access to just the needed drivers on anything that came with the laptop. -- Sven MVP Mobile Devices "Daniel" <Daniel(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:CEECD605-09A7-4BC0-B85C-CA3D4A8108B7(a)microsoft.com... > Hello Sven and thank you for your answer. Hello Sven I've recently checked the OEM of the Tablet PC and on the Drivers Section I see that I can download all the drivers (Windows Vista drivers). Having a clean installation of Vista and installing this drivers I think there should be no problem right? Because I saw a friend of mine changing his XP Home to XP Professional and downloaded the drivers for his notebook (in this case) and everything worked out (that is my basis why it should be the same for the Tablet PC) Best regards, and thank you very much for your help "Sven" wrote: > I would say you need to visit the OEM website to ensure the drivers are > downloadable.
