Hi all,

I'm using HP IPAQ 514 voice messenger. Sometimes my phone tries to
connect to EDGE forcefully, and get stucked for 5-7 mins. even tough
there is application running. If I want to dial a number at the same
time, it gives me the message - "Cannot complete your call, signal may
not be available or device is busy................."

Can anyone please help me out?

what is happening and how to turn it off?

I've taken this as a virus and tried Symantec PDA security, AVAST PDA
edition and even Trend MACRO mobile security. all reports are null,
there is not virus on my phone, still this thing continues.

It happends twice or thrice in a day, no scheduled time to occur..

It is a brand new phone and shared with only trusted (clean) devices
and my home wifi network only.

Looking for your suggestions

Regards

Most likely an app on the device is connecting- your Messaging program, if
you've set it to retrieve e-mail every "x" minutes or hours, Activesync if
you use Exchange, or some Home Screen/Today Plug-in or shell app that pulls
news or weather at regular intervals over the cell network.

It's certainly NOT a virus!

Despite the plethora of AV products available, there really aren't any
WinMobile viruses "in the wild."

At least not one you've figured out. It's probably happening more often
when you're not "looking."

Has it been doing it as long as you've owned it, or did it start recently,
like only since you've installed a particular app?

If "brand new" and you haven't installed any apps yet, figure out which
included apps try and connect periodically- as I've said, Messaging and
Activesync (if you use an Exchange server) are the most likely culprits.

You are right Todd,
I've configured it to retrieve emails after every 2 hours.
It may be because of it.
and robably happening more often when I'm not looking it.

Perfect resolution for my problem I think

Thanks a lot...

:)

Have a nice day
