From: KenP on 28 Apr 2008 06:25 I have W2000 server and added a new XP pc, but only want it to have access to the Internet and not the shared folders on the server. I did not add a user name, just connected the PC and assigned it to the WORKGROUP. IP's are automagically assigned. Any help will be greatly appreciated. K

From: KenP on 28 Apr 2008 17:04 Thanks Robert, Now I have another problem I hope you can help me with. Everything worked without problem except on one XP machine. When I clicked on an icon of a program mapped to the server, the can't find location came up. I clicked on fix and it found a link but not the correct one. Anyway, on this XP machine I have two users both with administrator privileges. One user works just fine - can access the server and the appropriate programs and folders. But on the other, no such luck. I tried everything to map a drive to the server, etc. but the user doesn't have the required access. I deleted the user on the server and recreated it and that did not help. I added and new user to server and PC and that did not help. I made sure the user had the correct permissions on the server to the file folders and program folders but no luck. Every time I try to create a shortcut to one of the required folders I get the mapped drive is not accessible although it is listed in mapped drives. Any help on this one will be greatly appreciated. I'm about hairless at this point. K "Robert L.
