From: Chris on 6 Dec 2006 02:26 I've been accepted for a Pos Office credit card. One of the attractions was the ability to review my account on-line. However, the site comes up with "This website is best viewed on Internet Explorer version 5.3 or above" which is annoying enough on its own. However, while I've been able to access the page on my Turion 64 laptop running Mandriva 2007 (64) by using the IE for XP identifier on Konqueror, I can't get it to work on my main machine running the 32-bit version of the same OS. I can't see any differences in the set-ups (and yes, I've e-mailed the Post Office to complain). -- Chris

Unfortunately this is all too common; egg are actually marketing services based on ActiveX controls! Needless to say I haven't taken up their offer and let them know why, see: http://groups.google.com/group/uk.comp.os.linux/browse_frm/thread/6e83d06b688e7f77/a12a580e0fd837b6?lnk=st&q=&rnum=1#a12a580e0fd837b6 The thing I do is have FireFox on standby, if Konq won't do the job (which is happening _less_ often these days) then I try the site with FF which usually works. -- Geoff

From: Chris on 6 Dec 2006 12:10 Well, I got the 32-bit version working - I noticed the only difference was that it had https://www.pofssavecredit.co.uk/ in the list of sites specified in the Browser Identification options, but the laptop had it listed as https://www.pofssavecredit.co.uk. I deleted the final slash, and it works. It's still bloody annoying that it's so damned broken, especially as it works happily with old (insecure) versions of IE, and won't even work with Firefox/Mozilla. I shall complain further if I can find a meaningful contact. -- Chris
