Tks. A good link.

The HCx only has USB connectivity so to connect to a PocketPC you need four
things:
1. A pocket PC with *master* usb. There are very few of these and I don't
know if the A639 has this.
2. Suitable drivers. AFAIK Garmin has not produced Pocket PC USB drivers.
3. A suitable cable. I have never heard of such, but I guess it would be
easy enough to make one up, but I wouldn't even bother trying unless 1 & 2
are a goer.
4. Software that knows about all the above.

I'd also be interested in connecting an HCx to a PocketPC so let us know if
you do find a solution.

I purchased a USB reduction female/female to connect original cables
to A639 and HCx. I'll try it soon. We'll see...
