From: Vito DiLuminoso on 11 Sep 2005 12:45 Can anyone recommend a good audio mastering app for OS X? I'm skittish about BIAS Peak Pro because of all the negative reviews I've read about it. Thanks!
From: kilowatt on 11 Sep 2005 13:13 I'd say, definitely, DO NOT get Bias Peak. I only had the LE version, but if that's any indication of the quality of their products, stay clear. I've been using SoundTrack Pro a lot lately, and it would definitely function as a mastering program. While it does have some stability issues, its a great tool. Does everything you would want to do, mastering stereo tracks. STP also comes with some neat tools for removing noise (pops, hum, consistant rumble, etc), working with a video track, and even multitracking. Go to an Apple store and try it out. STP will likely be creating multitrack projects when you get there, so ask how to just work on a single audio file, and you'll see where I would go with it. -- kilowatt [size=-2] irc.lfnet.net #kilonet -+=join in=+- > > ...the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of > the state but the hand of God... > PEBKAC - Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair. --who said it first? * 'Audio Engineer' (http://lfnet.net/resume.html) * - ProTools and Logic Pro Certified. From: Vito DiLuminoso on 11 Sep 2005 18:32 kilowatt: Thanx for your recommendation of ST Pro. There's no question that it's a great package that does lots of cool stuff. I'm already using Logic Pro 7, so there's good interoperability there, but it looks like ST Pro might provide more features than I actually need. Also, I couldn't find anything in the documentation about whether ST Pro supports the RedBook standard. Do you know whether it does? Matt: Thanx for your recommendation of DSP-Quattro. I've downloaded the demo and I'll check it out. Vito
