I am trying to download the Authorware Web Player from the Adobe website but
the progress bar always stops, turns pink, and says "Error Loading." I think I
have narrowed down the reason but can't seem to find a work around.

See, we use folder redirection on our domain and we redirect the Application
Data folder from the usual C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Application Data to
a share on a server. Any computer not on the domain can intall and use the web
player just fine. Any user that is on a computer attached to the domain gets
the same "Error Loading" message trying to install Authorware. Also, if
Authorware was installed before the computer was put on the domain they are
unable to use any program that takes advantage of Authorware. When the program
opens and tries to load Authorware it will receive the same "Error Loading"
message.

Any suggestions out there that doesn't involve not using folder redirection?
Thanks.

Change the appropriate registry entry that tells the web player where
to install and make it somewhere other than the users profile. There is
a tech note on the adobe site on the 2004 player that explains what keys
to set. The advantage here is that each user of a machine does not need
to install the player but can 'share' a single installation if it is
in a place that is accessible to all.

Thank you for the reply. How can I install the web player on a computer without using the web download page because it doesn't work?

There are installers available for 'the stub' and you can get a copy of
the actual install files to host on your own server. You need to fill
out a simple agreement with Adobe to get the files. Have a look on the
Adobe site for the section on distributing the Authorware web player.

Hi, I'm a newbie here. Was wondering, do you absolutely have to have the
Authorware Webplayer installed, to view the contents of a published htm? (what
if you have to view the contents on a computer that you can't install anything
on?)
