From: Steve Howard on 9 Nov 2007 20:13 Ellen Wagner announced today, at the Adobe eLearning Summit, that the Authorware Web Player will be updated to ensure that the known bugs with IE7/Vista will be addressed. This is great news as it extends the life of Authorware web-based content for an estimated 2 years, removing at least some of the urgency for those considering migrating/converting existing Authorware content to new tools. Obviously there is no guarantee that there will be no Windows or IE updates in the short or long term that introduce further issues with the Authorware Web Player, so we can assume that Adobe will assess the need for web player changes should such an update transpire. The tentative comment from Adobe at this stage is that anything that causes further playback issues with the Authorware Web Player would also cause issues with the many other plugins on the market, so the ball might just be in Microsoft's court ... but that is not a promise, more of a postulation :-) We've been talking to Adobe about this for a while - we being Authorware developers everywhere, corporate clients and of course the Community Experts that represent Authorware. Adobe has listened and Ellen Wagner has taken on the mantle of championing the cause of eLearning for all of us who are in that field. Thanks Ellen. Thanks Adobe. Steve
