From: Technovators on 14 Nov 2007 14:10 For those persons who have created various applications using Authorware, is there any way to convert existing files to let's say Director or Captivate files without having to do over all of that work? Is Adobe looking at creating any conversion paths to its other products?
From: Mike Baker **Adobe Community Expert** on 14 Nov 2007 14:36 So far I haven't found any ways to convert all your content to any of the other tools. The content is, in many cases, incompatible. Most people I know are now investigating what tools will be capable of doing what they used to do in Authorware and then working on strategies for re-building the content into those other tools. First define what you do and see if you want to change anything. Then find the tool or combination of tools that will get the job done. Then figure out what will work best for you in migrating. No. > Is Adobe looking at creating > any conversion paths to its other products? Adobe are looking at things. If you speak to them directly they will point you in the direction of several private companies who might be able to help you strategize a conversion. To there best of my knowledge there is no full-fidelity conversion possible at this stage. The best you can hope for is something like 70-80%, but if you don't have a large library of courses the effort of perfecting a conversion process would probably outweigh any time savings against rebuilding from scratch. Of course that depends upon just how simple or complex your Authorware code is. Data-driven stuff is going to be harder to convert that icon-dragger code.
