With Authorware going to sunset, does anybody know which authouring tool has
the same kind of power/features as this tool? I have used Authorware since
version 1 and still can't find anything with the same kind of features.

There's not very much that Authorware can do that you cannot do in Director
or Flash or even Flex. But there is a lot of native functionality that you
either have to recreate yourself from scratch, or use a significantly
different method to achieve the same result - i.e. there is no clean analog
to Authorware's Sound icon in Flash. And each of those tools require
significantly more scripting than Authorware for even the most basic tasks.

But I suppose you are looking for a recommendation to use Captivate or
Lectora or some other tool dedicated to developing training. Not many people
push Authorware to its fullest, so if you were to outline what you use
Authorware for, what Xtras or other extensions you typically use etc, then
it might be easier for others here to offer suggestions.

Thanks Steve. I find coding in Director and Flash are very Lingo like and the
development interface is not so WISIWIG as Authorware. I find development of
e-Learning solutions using these tools is painfully long. I also use Lectora
and although it is icon driven and has capabilities to incorporate other rich
media but it does not have the flexibility Authorware allows through it's
scripting capabilities. I have not used Flex, I may need to research it. Are
any of you seasoned Authorware users familiar with Flex? Can you fill me in? I
think Captivate has good promise, however, it is not as robust as yet. I do a
lot of software simulation i.e., Animated Demonstrations, Guided Simulations,
and Assessmentes with multiple plaths. I have difficulties with Scoring
especially with solutions that have multiple paths. For you folks who are
migrating to other tools, what have you decided on?

Flex is basically Flash with the timeline removed. There's some other stuff,
but the main point is you have to code everything in ActionScript. There are
some things on the way for Flex that should benefit us un the future - like
Thermo - but we won['t see them for some time.

There are ways to utilize external JavaScript in Captivate to help with
complex scoring. If you find complex scoring is your main hangup in
Captivate, then maybe that could help you?
