Beep codes have specific meaning. The POST - power-on-self-test
and dependent on BIOS and how it is configured, read here:
http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

You report a continuous series of beeps until you hit any key,
Identify your BIOS and make a comparision with the beep codes
in above site.

Well, then either you did not reconnect the keyboard properly, or you've
damaged the keyboard while removing it. Try to start the laptop without
the keyboard attached to be sure. Oh, and ignore that nutcase who
suggested to "disable the keyboard in the bios", I've never seen such
thing on any laptop.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!! You idiot. A rejection letter from MENSA
wouldn't be too much of a surprise for you now, would it?

If the laptop is still under warranty, get Gateway to do the repair. If you
have to send it back to Gateway, remove the hard drive, first. No telling what
you'll get back as a hard drive from Gateway. (I had to deal with a very upset
client who had Gateway do a simple repair. When she got a system back, maybe
not the original, it had a fresh load of Windows on it and none of her software.
She was impossible to deal with, being upset by the Gateway repair job, and I no
longer deal with her small company.)

If the laptop is not under warranty, buy a replacement keyboard and do it
yourself or have a competent service professional replace the keyboard.
