From: Nick on 21 Apr 2008 17:01 I have an Epson CX3200 printer and have had no end of problems since I bought it. It worked ok for a while but when I started using unbranded cartridges it started to misbehave. Since I dont use it everyday, it somehow acquires banding effects (thin horizontal lines) when I start to print. No amount of head cleaning will get rid of the lines. I have to waste half a cartridge and 20-30 sheets trying to print photos for it to stop the lines. Then eventually the lines stop. However when I use the printer again in a few days it begins all over again. I am wasting so much paper and ink its not not viable to use unbranded cartridges. I have tried different unbranded cartridges. Does anyone know a cure for this, short of buying expensive Epson cartridges or putting an axe through the damn thing? Do Epson put in some special code to cause problems for people who do not use Epson cartridges?

Unless you have a recommended "unbranded" ink cartridge manufacturer, your are waste more money on bad cartridges than saving.

The ink used in the C and CX printers is designed to be quick drying and waterproof once dry. This leads to clogging with printer that don;t get regular use, and even those using Epson OEM cartridges run into this regularly. Don't run any more cleaning cycles until you read the solutions in the manual I discuss below. You are just wasting ink and making things progressively worse. I have written a manual for resolving most of these problems which is free of charge and you will not be spammed by me if you request it. If you would like a copy, just email me and indicate the issue and the model number. I can be reached at: e-printerhelp(at)mvps(dot)org (at) = @ (dot) = .
