From: Ace Rob on 12 Nov 2005 11:20 Hey everyone, Is there a way I can buy some high bias TDK tapes by the bulk (like 25 or 50 or even 100 tapes at once) so I can get a cheaper price per tape? Or would there be not that much of a difference is price anyway when you add in shipping and handling charges? I was disappointed with what I saw on eBay. Thanks, Rob

Sure. Call Tape Warehouse in Atlanta. Ask for the studio price. They usually have a fairly low minimum. On pancakes the big price break is at 200 units, but I don't know what it's like for cassettes. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis."

Check with the retailers who cater to the church trade such as Long's. Also, surf google. "high bias TDK tapes" got me a number of interesting offers.

If you want the cheapest price, find a duplication house that uses the type of tape that you want and order bulk-loaded shells. You can specify the length (as long as it will fit) if you don't need something other than the standard 60 or 90 minutes. It's like buying bulk CDs - you have to buy the boxes and labels separately, or not, if you don't need them. Cassette House or Tape Warehouse are good sources for all the materials and also sell commercially boxed tape in larger quantities than your local Circuit City. You may have difficulty finding bulk loaded cassettes with popular brand names, but it's good quality tape stock. And at half a buck for a C60 vs. two bucks, you can probaby afford to have your cassette deck aligned to the type of tape that you buy in bulk and get optimum performance from it.
