From: spiderink on 31 Jan 2006 19:45 I am using Dreamweaver MX 2004 on a G5 Mac and I was wondering if there is a way to set a non-extendable window for the home page so that the graphics are cleanly "framed" by the browser window. Also, I would appreciate feedback about my site at http://www.spiderinkdesign.com. I've gone through the links, looking for any glitches that I missed and I could use some help. Thanks.
From: Tim G on 31 Jan 2006 20:13 Don't even think about it. Most users wouldn't be very happy if you resized their window. I know I wouldn't be. The best option would be to create a fixed-width design, and not worry about the left and right margins that people with varying sizes of browser windows will see. tim "spiderink" <webforumsuser(a)macromedia.com> wrote in message news:drp0bm$jju$1(a)forums.macromedia.com... >I am using Dreamweaver MX 2004 on a G5 Mac and I was wondering if there is >a > way to set a non-extendable window for the home page so that the graphics > are > cleanly "framed" by the browser window. > > Also, I would appreciate feedback about my site at > http://www.spiderinkdesign.com. You do have a problem here though: http://www.spiderinkdesign.com/Web_NoraB.htm Apparently, hovering over those horizontal images near the top is supposed to bring up image thumbnails of some sort. The pop up windows appear, but with a missing image icon. (Firefox and IE WinXP Sp2) tim
From: joeq on 31 Jan 2006 20:25 at first glance, it looks very good - really creative. a couple of things i noticed: the circles in most of the sections are missing their "rolled over" state. you might want to consider using a contact form rather than mailto links i would take the underscores out of the page titles would you want to have links on the cliients page to the projects you've done for them? re: your initial question... are you thinking of a window that automatically pops up when the site loads and all the content is displayed in said window?

Yeah, I realized the problem with the rollovers after I posted the message. I am uploading the roll-over gifs now. For some reason Dreamweaver skipped some of the rollover gif files when uploading the html "dependent files". I'm using Fetch now to fill in the holes. As for the home page, what I would like is that when the Index.html page gets called up because someone went to the homepage URL, the page comes up at a static size. In other words, the user can't resize the browser window beyond the edges of the graphics. It would behave like a pop-up window with set size-parameters, but it isn't a pop-up window itself. I hope I explained it correctly. |
