Platform WinXP SP3

When I try to pull down updates from MS sites a window comes up saying that
these sites ate only for WINDOWS not MAC. ie. somewhere along the line my
machine is being read as a MAC machine. I only have as above, no second OS
etc, but for a couple of months I cannot pull down updates.
