General;

Webmin works great on my 2 web servers (both older servers from DEC and HP).
The drive in question was originally a web server drive and now I want to
convert it over to a GUI desktop, not a web server.

Should I just re-install?

Try installing evolution using webmin or yumex (assuming you can ssh into
your box from a machine that has an X server on it). Evolution is
dependent on Gnome which is dependent on Xorg. Assuming that yum resolves
all of the dependencies you should have a Gnome environment on your
system. If that doesn't do it then you might as well do a fresh install
of CentOS5.1.

Best way to install group of packages on CentOS/RHEL (using yum) is
groups

just type

yum grouplsit

and you will see available groups.

Then

yum groupinstall <group name>

will install it.

Good candidates for you are x windows and gnome groups

This is a typo, it's

yum grouplist

Thanks for mentioning this, I wasn't aware that yum had this capability,
I though you needed yumex or pirut to do this.
