From: qfdssgh on 16 Feb 2005 13:18 I have recently purchased a Dell Axiom running Windows Mobile 2003 second edition. We are also using Cisco VPN Client version 4.0.5. When I set up the VPN the first screen asks for the Host name/ IP. I enter the address. There are two options one is IPSec/L2TP or PPTP. The transport on the Cisco side says IPSec/UDP. Is this an issue? Wait there's more The second screen asks for a certificate or a preshared key. We are not using certificate authentication. Does anyone no what a preshared key is? It is not my password. The VPN screen shows Group Authentication: Name Password Confirm Password The next screen asks for user name and pass word and domain. Our administrator says the domain isn't needed. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Rich rellis(a)gusmerenterprises.com
From: Harianto Wong on 16 Feb 2005 18:14 You will need to use a software like Movian Certicom VPN for the IPSec/UDP access. It seems like the included VPN client in Windows Mobile 2003 does not have group authentication. From: qfdssgh on 17 Feb 2005 07:01 Thanks Harianto, Per Certicom: "Effective October 31, 2004, Certicom is no longer providing movian security applications that can be installed by an end-user onto a device. Trials of movianVPN from the evaluation page have also been discontinued. " I have contacted them today, with the same question. Any other ideas would be great. I can't be the only person on the planet that has a pda and whos company uses Cisco VPN. Certicom no longer supports MovianVPN but worldnet21.com does. They still offer VovianVPN version 4.01 which will run on most of the older PocketPC's but not the new iPaq 27xx,24xx and the 63xx systems. It works with the Cisco VPN. If your VPN has NAT-T enabled then NCP VPN will also work. I don't think the built in VPN will work with work with Cisco. World net also has a company updating movianVPN and they claim it will be available in March or April.
