With such talent about I just have to ask:

I have 2 LCD screens (set as dual mode, not span, on my XP machine, both
run just fine.

However I do not use the second screen continously. Now when I restart the
machine with only the main screen running and click on a program that had
been displaying previously on the second screen, well ofcourse only the
program's quick launch icon displays in the ribbon at the bottom of the main
screen, the program is running, but does not display as the second that had
previously displayed it is de-engerised, off.

If the second screen is unplugged then the program (whatever program) will
display on the only screen engerised.

Is there a way for XP to sense that the second screen though connected, but
not switched on, will then simply display the program on the main screen?.

I used to use a switchbox that switched the VGA connection of previous CRT
screens and simply select a screens etc. The LCD's use DVI, so my VGA
switching is redundant.

I would love to have a software solution rather than out with the soldering
iron and a new box and all that.

Thankyou,

Dave

Google for UltraMon and see if that program will help.
