From: Ken on 8 Apr 2008 13:22 Hi Folks, I'm expecting to purchase an HP Pavillion laptop. For approximately the same total system cost I can have either of these CPUs: Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 (2.0GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800Mhz FSB) or AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core TL-68 (2.4GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache) I'd very much appreciate any thoughts regarding which one may be preferred. Thanks. Ken

Intel chipsets have drivers that are updated by Intel and vendors; there are instances wherein updates to the drivers for AMD 64 might, or might never, arive. FSB is "who cares" unless you are doing benchmarks for finding the Nth prime number. Intel might be here to stay; AMD is selling their chipsets at a loss, as I understand, and might not be here tomorrow. Q |
