From: KiwiBrian on 17 Mar 2006 19:55 I am a beginner with FW8 I am selecting a portion of an image by following the instructions:- "Draw a rounded corner rectangle over the image, selecting both the image and the rectangle, and choosing Modify | Mask | Group as Mask." This works great. Now how do I add a stroke to the outside of the resultant image to create a border, and with a different coloured background/canvas colour? TIA Brian Tozer

If I understand correctly, you don't want a mask for this. Draw a rectangle larger than the canvas, then punch a rounded-corner rectangle out ot its center so the bitmap shows through from beneath. Apply a stroke to the holey rectangle, which needs to hang off the canvas so the outside stroke doesn't appear. Clear as mud, right? -- Lanny Chambers St. Louis, USA http://www.hummingbirds.net/
From: PJR on 18 Mar 2006 05:29 Hi Brian, You can add your stroke to your rounded rectangle before you Group as Mask. Then in the Layers Panel select the Bitmap Mask (the one on the right with the little pen in the corner) Now in the Property Inspector, move the green dot from Grayscale appearance to Path Outline and Check the Show fil and stroke box. Or you can add it after you have grouped as mask, by again selecting the Bitmap mask in the Layers panel as previously described and add your stroke details in the Property Inspector and again select Path Outline and check the Show fill and stroke box.
