Haar Filter for QMF Hi, Its known that Haar filter is the only FIR filter achieves the perfect reconstruction when used in QMF filter. Then why is it not used? Why do people go for longer length filters and pseudo QMF? What are the disadvantages of Haar filter that it cannot be used in QMF filter? Thanks in advance. ... 6 Jul 2008 10:56
Regarding PSNR for audio compression Its known that PSNR (peak signal to noise ratio) is used to compare image quality after compression. Can it also be used for audio quality? ... 5 Jul 2008 11:29
QPSK baseband shaping .... I have built a QPSK modulator, but I have some doubts about the Baseband Shaping Filter. The Baseband Filter is a "SRRC Digital Filter" with cutoff at Nyquist / 2 with selectable roll-off. In my project roll-off is 0.35. Example (SAT): 27500 Msymb/s ---> Nyquist Frequency is 55000 Mhz (for I and Q) ---> cutof... 5 Jul 2008 12:31
FM Demodulation I have an application where I need to detect an unmodulated tone at a fixed baseband frequency on an FM carrier. The mod index of the tone is quite low, such that only the first Bessel pair of FM sidebands is significant. Can I demodulate the tone by directly detecting its Bessel components (the first two sid... 9 Jul 2008 13:42
Basic question about Q of resonat RLC tank We're all familiar with typical plot (eg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Bandwidth2.png) used in typical explanations of Q. What's the analytical expression represented by that curve? [Yeah I should be able to derive it from first principles, but can't seem to do anything right today ;[ TIA ... 5 Jul 2008 13:32

Hilbert Transform code I'm trying to separate a data signal of ~800Hz from a carrier wave which is ~2000Hz. As both frequencies vary slightly over time I was hoping to use envelope detection to strip off the carrier, my sample rate is 22560. I've read about taking the Hilbert transform of the input signal and then squaring this and ad... 7 Jul 2008 06:20
