My online submission to HP. I suggest if you have a problem you do the
same.

After not using my DV6113US Media Center laptop for a few months my
battery was completely dead. I called in and it was replaced under
warranty. After not using it again for a month or so I see that it was
only about 40% charged and thinking - either bad batteries or I have " a
discharging problem". I charged the battery and removed it. After a
month - 99% charged so it's not the battery. Put it back in - check a few
weeks later and only 70%. I checked online and a LOT of other users have
same issue and replacing dead batteries. It came with a remote control
stored in a PCMCIA slot as part of Media Center - to play/stop/start video
etc. Nice feature, BUT that remote control ALSO has the ability to turn
the PC on. So,the PC is always in "standby mode" waiting for a signal from
the remote- using battery power. The unused PC/ battery discharges until
completely drained(if not used on AC for a long period). The MCE series
needs a BIOS update to be able to "Disable Remote" and REALLY turn off.

I DID update BIOS to latest F.3D. I saw
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01087277&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3250975
and think rather than have users ship back PC - better for both of us to
just update BIOS to allow to DISABLE REMOTE CONTROL.

Some laptops still use some power even when the laptop is off. Some
hardly use anything and others more so. Even though I have 4 laptops
here, the two Gateway MX6124 are really good about not dischanging the
battery. But as a rule, I don't leave them in the laptop if I am *not*
going to use them on battery power again for the next 24 hours.
