I'm new to DVD burning. Is one DVD type (DVD-R/DVD+R/DVD+RW ....)
better than another for data storage, say vs. used for music?
Why so many types?
TIA

I'm puzzled. Can you not find this information on the internet?

Linux: because I work with Windows, and that's bad enough.

Go to google and post your question there. This has already been
answered a gadzillion times (maybe more) and there are numerous
sites set up to answer all your questions and a few you didn't want
to ask.

For example:

http://www.dvdrw.com/why/faq.htm

Really all depends on the players in your house as well. Some players
won't play +R where others will. I have 2 players in the house that are
like that. They only play -R media. The other 2 in the house play
anything and everything.

One isn't necessarily *better* than the other. They are just used for
different things. I personally use +R for storage and -R for movies and
such like that. +RW is rewriteable where as -R/+R is NOT rewriteable.

Sorry everyone else took the time to reply, but refused to answer your
question. I know that's got to be frustrating.
