I need to create a database of new "clients" which keeps track of dates which
each contact is made (to or from) with each potential new "client" and have
the database calculate a certain amount oftime to let pass pass (2 weeks for
example) before contanting them again for follow-up if we do not hear back
from them.

I need to able to sort by the follow-up dates as well as name of the
"clients".

So there will obviously be multiple and varying numbers of contacts made
between different clients. This is probably the trickiest part, trying to
figure out the best way to have this information while still be able to sort.

I'd also prefer this to be an Excel database, as that is what I am most
experienced with and 2003 because that is what is available in my office.

One part I forgot...even trickier, how do I get the coloumn that's calulating
the "follow-up date" to detect where the latest date in my list of contact
dates is (since I want them all in separate cells) in order to calculate the
most current date? I want to make this process as automated as possible and
not have to customize each formula.

Dear Jewelzeyes,

This has too much mixed up and missing to try to answer. A few questions:

Excel is a spreadsheet program
Access is a database program

You wrote into an Access forum and said you prefer an "Excel database" which
is thus a self conflicting term. Also, if you specifically want Excel, then
you've written to the wrong forum. If thre is even a few twists to this,
Access will probably do it better than Excel, but will be harder for you to
learn.

Other questions:

Can you treat "clients" as individual, independent entities? VS having to
track companies at them.

Is there just one follow-up date per client?

Are you trying to record / track other information relevant to each followup
(such as the nature of the conversation)
