Well mates, since the last time u checked, several notebooks parts
dealer have sprung up over the Net. Just Google. Here's one
http://www.impactcomputers.com/sony-vaio-parts.html

Of course u guys are exagerating. U make it sound like by the time
one's done, one has replaced the whole unit!

I have only owned Sony. I fix my own things, I hate un-cool notebooks

I was just poking around at the link I provided and... guess what...

There's not much at SonySpareParts for newer models either.

There used to be. Gone are all the pages for the V505 line, for example.

There's also http://www.sonyspareparts.com ... which has a much broader
offering of replacement parts.

Impact Computers seems to not have a lot of parts available for most current
models.

Another problem with Sonys... It seems that every year a new model
replaces last years model.

I see that as an advantage. That means one can get perfectly good
last-year machines for reasonable$, bypassing your
chase-the-latest&greatest Joneses.
