From: Charles on 5 May 2008 17:21 I know this is an old system I was given but before I strip it for various parts I would like to find out some Info. On turn on I get a steady amber power light on the front as well as a steady HD light. The ABCD lights on the back are not on at all. The system fan comes on as well as the fan in the PS. The green light comes on on the MB as well. I am thinking the MB is toast but want to check here first. It currently has no memory installed but I should be getting some kind of POST beeps but thee are none. Thanks anyone, Charles

The Dim2400 is a workhorse of a system that will do more than you'd think. I have a healthy Dim2400 that I pulled the memory from and it beeped unhappily when I turned it back on afterward. The "A" light was green while B, C and D remained yellow. The power light was green the whole time. I would definitely make sure that the CPU is in place. Also make sure all the power connectors are hooked up to the motherboard. William

I will probably end up saving the parts for my other 2400 that has also been a workhorse for the past several years. Yes I was under the impression that even without memory you would still get some kind of beep error. If I run across another 2400 motherboard or even a 4600 I may try to put it back together but not at the e-bay prices for motherboards. Thanks, Charles

If the price is right for you, a Dimension 4600 board would be better than the 2400 board. Same chassis and connectors, more capable motherboard. Not a 4700 board, though.
