I am trying to setup my DLINK Router DI-604 to share my Boardbank internet
(Rogres-Yahoo High speed) . During the router setup process, it requires a
DHCP renew. However, when I click on this, I got an error message "Time Out"
and cannot obtain an IP address. If I disconnect the router and connect my
PC direct to the Cable modem, it works. I was configuarting the router using
the machine that is connected to the cable modem. Any idea on how to fix this
? My PC is a AMD 3200+ with WIN XP SP2. The network controller is NVIDIA
nForce MCP Networking Controller. Looks like the CLONE MAC did get thru.
Just don't understand why DCHP renew is not working.

I have the same model. Have you tried hitting the reset button on the
router? It is just a little hole next to the power cord plugin. If you reset
it, then the username will be admin with no password, until you reset it.
Also, have you run the setup? When you first log on to the router, there is
the option to run the setup wizard. Be sure to do that.

Try:

1. Connect your computer directly to the modem and make sure you can browse
the Internet. On the computer execute ipconfig /release. Unplug power to
the modem and shut down the computer.

2. Connect the computer to the router and restart it. Connect the modem to
the router and re-connect power.

It actually sounds like you do not have your router setup with the ISP
account. Do you use Static IP, Dynamic IP or PPoE?

Found the answer from Dlink FAQ on Time out issue. I just need to recycle
the power of the Cable modem and the router and follow with a restart of the
machine, then everything is set.. Thanks
