From: mst on 7 Jan 2008 08:14 Hello, I have tried to find information in serveral hardware howtos but they are mostly historical. Have anyone tried to install at and run Linux Debian 4 (etch) on disk array managed by Intel SRCS16 SATA RAID controller? I'm not such an experienced linux user to search linux kernel code for apropriate driver. So tell me is this controller supported on linux with 2.6 kernel? More info about the machine I want to buy: Intel Server Board S5000V Quad-Core Intel Xeon 1,6GHz 2x 512MB FBDIMM 667 Intel SRCS16 SATA RAID controller 3x WD Cavair 250GB SATA I want to have RAID5 array on disks created and managed by the controller. I want to install Linux Debian 4 with 2.6 kernel on it.

I believe that's a rebranded LSI Megaraid. You'll need the megaraid driver (which comes with Linux). > I'm not such an experienced linux user to search linux kernel code for > apropriate driver. I would think this config would work just fine.

Instead of coming here, you really should google for what you seek. There's thousands of hits on this card and linux. Seems over that it works as advertised except for performance... not a great piece of hardware for the bucks... Good Luck -- Jerry McBride (jmcbride(a)mail-on.us)
