From: Davej on 13 Jan 2007 23:48 Another dumb question... are these two items going to play nice or am I going to be stuck returning one of them? Since I don't need dual monitors can I disable one output? Thanks... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102067 http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/products/products_overview.php?gpid=169&grp=3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824002090

You can use the primary output with one monitor, and the other output does not have to be activated. Video cards have jack sensing - a VGA monitor presents a 75 ohm load, and the video card knows when a monitor is connected. You'll notice in the Newegg images, that there are two DVI-I to VGA adapters, so you can use two CRTs if you want to :-) http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/14-102-067-06.JPG In terms of the CRT you are looking at, I don't understand why one reviewer is noticing jitter in the displayed image. Thanks, I am glad to learn this. It certainly isn't mentioned in the skimpy online pdf manual. As far as the monitor is concerned I hope I don't see the jitter.

Another thought occurs to me. These analog monitors must also have a digital communication channel? How else could the OS identify the monitor?

Indeed, but is only used to communicate the monitor specs, it isnt used for the display of the visual image except indirectly by using the specs
