Mostly to find duplicate large files (such as Canon camera RAW [.CR2]
and MP3's) on diverse volumes- both FW HDD and older Macs- does anyone
have a recommendation for or against - any piece of software,
shareware, freeware or commercial?

I am friends with Google, but look for recommendations of folks with no
commercial axe to grind.

Usually I have so many duplicates it's a nightmare trying to go through
a list of them.

TidyUp is quite configurable, and while still a mess I think there might
not be an easy way to do this.

I'll speak in favor Tidy Up! as well. The price may strike you as steep
(to be honest, I know it does for me) but when you consider the full
range of what it can do it's really not a bad deal. If you're actually
going to use those features. You could cobble together something good
enough for you for any given task with free or included tools, probably,
but that depends on your willingness and ability to learn them, and how
much you value your time.

And, for what it's worth, the support on Tidy Up! I've found to be quite
responsive.

Thanks, I have taken a look and it does way more than I need, but that
may be all right after a bit. Program too well written, too many options! :)
