From: Funky_Monk on 3 Feb 2005 05:34 My colleague had accidently pressed "Yes" whrn outlook express wanted to compact e-mails. The compacting operation had started, but she urgently needed to view an e-mail. So, she tried to cancel the operation, which lead to nothing. So she pressed "Reset" button, and now there are absolutely no e-mail messages in inbox folder. Inbox.dbx file is empty as well. Is there somekind of a way to restore these e-mails? Will System Restore help? Where are the files during compacting process? I would appreciate soonest reply, as there were some very urgent e-mails in inbox that day, and I do not know whom should I reply now. Best wishes, Stas Chekalin -- Funky_Monk

If it doesn't exist then she successfully deleted all of the messages, but if she is using Win2K or WinXP then DBXpress _may_ recover some of the messages. It's at the same site, but read the instructions carefully. The more the machine is used before running DBXpress, the more messages will be totally lost. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP, IE/OE Please respond in Newsgroup only.
