From: Bill Durham on 7 Apr 2008 16:18 Guys, I jumped on the toontrack $50 rebate and got EZ Drummer last month. Its a big improvement for me drum sound wise. I am starting to re-do my original and cover tunes with EZD instead of the Yammy GM box I have and I'm having to edit my original midi files pretty heavily. I did a lot of things like using both ride cymbal parts to make it fatter, so all of those instances have to be taken out. My question is, how do you set it up so that when you go to piano roll view, you see the instruments instead of the keys of the piano? Do I have to do an instrument definition (.ins) file? The 2nd question is how do I get it to output as individual audio tracks instead of a stereo pair? Thanks Bill
From: Ricky Hunt on 7 Apr 2008 17:04 Right-click on the "keys" on the left-hand side of the Piano Roll view and a "Note Names" dialog box will pop up. Click configure and then you can choose from GM, Roland, Yamaha, etc. Or click the radio button in the dialog box that says "Use these note names instead" and from the drop-down box you'll have even more choices. From: Ted Perlman on 7 Apr 2008 19:32 <how do I get it to output as individual audio tracks instead of a stereo pair> Right click on the output setting in the MIXER and select the option for MULTI CHANNEL outputs. I don't know about Sonar, but all the programs I know will instantly have the separate channels for EZ Drummer appear. BTW, I just got EZ Drummer Nashville (I have all the expansion packs) and it is SUPERB! -- Regards, Ted Perlman Producer-Arranger-Musician-Composer www.tedperlman.com www.myspace.com/tedperlman

I see Ted already answered the multi-output question (when you're in the mixer, right click, and select the multichannel preset). You can also control individual outputs in the mixer by going to the channel you want and changing it to the audio output you like. You probably also want to have inserted EZ Drummer in SONAR's synth rack with the "all audio outputs" option so it creates the needed audio tracks for you. On the drum note names, there are drum map files available from Toontrack's download area. Once you get those, and load them into the drum maps directory/folder within SONAR, just use the relevant drum map for the MIDI track with your drums on it, and it will give you the EZ Drummer or EZX-specific drum map you've selected. Once you get things set up to replace a GM part, you may also want to switch some of the hits around to take advantage of things like left/right-hand hits that wouldn't be in a GM sequence, moving things around to whichever cymbals may be optimal for your part, etc. Rick -- ======================================= Rick Paul Closet Cowboy Music (ASCAP) Web: www.RickPaul.info MySpace: www.myspace.com/rickpaulmusic ======================================= "Bill Durham" <billdurham(a)attglobal.net> wrote in message news:qdudnVJt2ocZHGfanZ2dnUVZ_rmjnZ2d(a)comcast.com... > Guys, > > I jumped on the toontrack $50 rebate and got EZ Drummer last month.
