From: lost distance on 3 May 2006 04:28 Hi, Does anybody have experience of the Edimax EW-7628IG wireless LAN PCI card? It's sold by dabs.com as the DabsValue MIMO-XR 54Mbps PCI Card. Looking at the specs it comes with drivers for "Linux Series", but I can't find any more information. Are they binary only for specific distros, or do they provide source? Any help will be appreciated.

I've got an Edimax 7101 PCMCIA card to work fine with my ancient IBM 390X laptop and Mandriva. The driver for my card was a binary, so I just trusted to luck, and it worked. Chris

I guess I'll skip this card then, since I can't assume that it will still work after assorted kernel and compiler upgrades.

I haven't had /any/ problem with the driver, despite many kernel changes and various tweaks and optimisations to get the ancient laptop running at reasonable speed. It's a good, cheap card, and outperforms many of the well-known ones. Chris
