Hi. I am looking for a good program for editing mov files. I have IMovie
but that requires that I convert my mov files to dv files-- which are
much larger in size. I am looking to edit some mov files to put on the
internet so I don't need to bother with dv files. Is there a shareware
program that will allow for editing of mov files? Any advice is
appreciated.

Thanks,

mirsky

Which version of iMovie? I've got iMovie HD (6.0.2), and it imports .mov
files just fine. And exports them as well.

You can't *open/save* them, but they import/export them just fine.
iMovie hands off that sort of work to QuickTime, which doesn't seem to
care much what you feed it.

Depends on the codec used, among other things; some .mov files can be
very large, larger than .dv files.

If you have a very old version of iMovie that really doesn't
import/export anything other than dv, you might try upgrading to
QuickTime Pro. You can do simple editing with it.
