You may want the PC shop to phone 1-877-KINGSTON because they told me (I phoned them over a DDR problem and decided to ask about this as well) that the part no. is for a Compaq or HP computer and is not compatible with your eMachine 600is. They also said that the 600is can't use any module bigger than 128MB, not even double-sided 256MB ones. If the PC shop told you that the KTH6501/256 was compatible, then they owe you an exchange or 100% refund.

This chips double the Maximum memory in your system. Some it will work on and some it won't. I have a kingston in my machine by the way. I have emachine 2040w and it is working.
