From: rednek on 10 Mar 2006 04:34 Hi I have just taken the plunge and bought an ACER 5022 Turion laptop (1gb ram, winXP etc), and an EMU 1616m cardbus interface. Running Reason, at an ASIO latency of 5ms, the audio is glitching all over the place, with the cpu meter going up and down like a yoyo. Take the latency up to 20ms, and all seems reasonably well. Surely I can expect better than this? I built an athlon1200 based machine 4 years ago with soundblaster live card and 512mb ram and had similar performance!! Is it because I'm just technically running upgraded versions of the same kit now? Ideally I'd like to be able to run Reason via Cubase SX and a couple of softsynths and low latency monitoring. Is this too much to ask of a laptop based workstation, even in 2006?!?!? Any clues as to how I can make a workable solution using this new kit would be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards Red
