From: pcfountain77 on 22 Jun 2008 22:01 Since switching to Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit, I am having a problem with the eraser tool in Fireworks. There is a noticeable flicker while using the tool, and it moves with a very slow and jerky motion, making it difficult to erase with any precision. Is this just a 64-bit problem? Are there any Windows settings I can tweak to make the eraser tool smoother?
From: pixlor on 23 Jun 2008 21:42 Switching to Vista Ultimate 64-bit from...what? If XP, then the problem is that the bitmap tools are not compatible with the Aero interface. You can either turn Aero off completely, or just for Fireworks. To turn Aero off for Fireworks, do the following: - Find the executable (Fireworks.exe) - Right-click and select Properties - Choose the Compatibility tab - Select the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" checkbox and "Windows XP (Service Pack2)" dropdown and "Disable desktop composition" checkbox. When you run Fireworks, the color scheme will switch to Vista Basic. But your bitmap tools will work. Aero is restored again when you exit Fireworks.
