I recieve an error in my C:\Temp\eventlog.txt that is described in this
article, http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=839495. All of the entries in the
registry were already there, but third entry for the version was
"Version"="9.107.8320. I changed it to reflect what the article said
(9.107.5512) and rebooted but it was no help I still got the same error
message.

The entry in the log reads:

'9.107.5512' installed.

The server is Exch 2003 SP1 Ent, on Windows 2003 SP1 with all the latest
updates.

The problem turned out to be an incorrectly configured RUS - pointing to a
server that was no longer an DC
