I've been having the same problem installing the update for the HP w2207
Wide Screen LCD monitor update. I contacted Windows support and got a
nice reply with a real solution. They sent a link to the Portrait
Displays website that tells you how to fix the problem. It involves
installing a patch. It has detailed instructions that are pretty easy. I
tried it and it worked! I was able to then do the update with success.
Hope this will help all the other people out there with the same
problem.
