From: SM on 28 Sep 2005 07:16 I've got a Netgear DG834G whose wireless signal is not reaching the far end of the house. I'm presuming that the best solution is to run an ethernet cable to a remote "base station", rather than situate the remote one half way. The Airport Express is very neat, but I've read comments online that its signal isn't very strong. Also not sure whether it would work OK in tandem with the Netgear. I'm also guessing that there are cheaper alternatives. Another thought is that the Netgear has a removeable aerial, but the only replacement aerials I've seen are the Dr Bott ones for Airport Extremes. I've tried repositioning the Netgear but nowhere covers the whole house - probably the thick stone walls. I'd welcome any advice on strategies and hardware. Unfortunately the DG834G can't participate in said > network. Spent hours trying to make my DG834G do WDS with an Airport Express. Resolutely wouldn't play. Took the Airport back for a refund and gave up. Bloody Netgear. If Apple would do an Airport with DSL router built in, I'd chuck the Netgear in. -- Mike Connally Had to take action 'against spam'. Would the Airport Express or something similar work OK if it was conected to the DG834G by ethernet? Stuart -- http://www.sundog.co.uk - cut that out to reply |
