From: Paul Woodsford on 13 Jul 2008 10:38 Hi, I have got my 1st Mac an iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz CPU. I'm using aWinTV - HVR 900 usb digital TV stick and EyeTV ver 3.02. How do I stop both the Screensave and then Screen Power Off mode working whilst watching the TV.If I use the Screensaver Hot Corner function I can disable the Screensaver from starting but not the Screen Power Off. I can find nothing in the EyeTV preferences. Is this possible and can anyone point me in the right direction to sort this out? Any help much appreciated -- Welsh Gas Remove usual to reply direct.

Thanks. So what you are saying is the TV software is not considered an Activity by the Screensaver and the Energy Saver/Sleep function and one has to switch OFF those functions to stop them being activated when watching TV on the computer? -- Welsh Gas Remove usual to reply direct.

I'll say that there's something quirky about your machine if you're seeing either of those functions activate while watching something in EyeTV. I've been using EyeTV for years, across 3 Macs and 4 versions of OS X (currently an Core Solo mini with 10.5.4) and haven't experienced this problem. Typically the "activity" that prevents invoking the screen saver and sleep functions is user interaction, but software *can* tickle it and as far as I can tell EyeTV *does*. -- "Harry?" Something must be different about your setup. Obviously, you are using different video capture hardware. I wouldn't think the hardware you are using would be the cause, but it's possible. -- Send responses to the relevant news group rather than to me, as E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my very hungry SPAM filter.
