From: Gordon on 18 Jun 2008 08:47 I've been using the prerelease versions of FireFox 3 for a while now, and one thing I found really neat about them is that they used the OSX spell checker. Now that FireFox 3 final is out it seems that once again you need to download and install a spell checker extension specific to the browser. This is a big disappointment, I don't like having to teach every application I install how to spell my name, and the idea of a system wide spell checker was a big plus for me when I switched to Mac OS. Does anybody know why support for the Mac OS spell checker was dropped in favour of the extension approach? Also, it seems like the Services menu doesn't work with FF3. This isn't a huge loss as I rarely use it anyway, but it would have been nice if it had been supported.
