From: pailface88 on 29 Jan 2006 17:16 I have had a TE for a couple of years and recently bought a new TX. The TX is faster to actually run most applications but the TE is faster switching between applications and even faster with most PIM stuff. I played with an E2 in the store a little bit. It also seemed slower than the TE in spite of its faster processor speed. My question is, what is the fastest Palm PDA for switching apps, accessing PIM items? It seems like the NVFS may be slowing things down much more than the higher CPU closk speeds are speeding them up.

A Developer could probably best answer your question. Remember that there is cpu overclocking software like LightSpeed where one can overclock a T|E from its normal 126Mhz to 192Mhz. Also, on some Palms like the Tungsten T, one can replace most of what is in flash memory (not RAM) with your own applications. Apps will launch noticeably faster from flash than from RAM. The TX without NVFS would be a very-very nice Palm. /PaulN

They will eventually fix it, YES, I hate the continual crashes but most are the fault of applications that don't follow the rules. -- Gil W0MN Bailar es vivir

I am the OP and have just discovered that WavAlarms is slowing my TX down when launching ALL apps. The only cure I can find is to remove WavAlarms and then soft reset. I only used WavAlarms in the first place as a way to make the volume of the alarms louder on my Tungsten E but I don't need it on my TX I guess as it is loud enough for me. Thanks for the input. |
