From: ChrisC on 17 Feb 2007 09:48 I have Firefox 2.0 installed using a script which someone suggested. On dapper drake. I can now access Firefox 2 from the Icon on the top start bar. However, my problem is everytime the system wants to update, it wants to revert to 1.5. How do I get rid of this? My possible solution was that I was thinking of changing all the repos in the sources.list file to edgy fiesty I think. This would allow me access to version 2.0 in the edgy repo's. Also I would get all the latest edgy updates. Or is this a really bad idea? If so how do I stop the software update stop trying to update 2.0.0.1 to 1.5? Or downgrade as it were. Thanks.

That'd work, there are hacks you can do with pinning to keep everything else at .... your old version but the simplest thing is to use the latest sources.list for feisty ferret. Then you can either upgrade the whole system or just enough to run the latest firefox "apt-get install firefox" will fetch the latest version without upgrading everything. -- Stephen Patterson :: steve(a)patter.mine.nu :: http://patter.mine.nu/ GPG: B416F0DE :: Jabber: patter(a)jabber.earth.li "Don't be silly, Minnie.
