I've had no problems with it and the biggest advantage is I can cut and paste from it . . . :-) -- Kevin Nathan (Arizona, USA) Linux Potpourri and a.o.l.s. Some modern pdf's have some sort of a "no cut and paste" flag and cutting and pasting won't work for them. I've not tried KPDF but I've got an old version of Acroread around that hasn't implemented that "improvement". ----- Paul J. Gans

These are actually password-protected Acrobat files, where the creator of the file can select restrictions to apply - from the inability to cut & paste, to the inability to print the pdf. A password is then needed to access these functions - you won't be prompted for one, but you can see that's what's needed if you look in the file properties. These features and some others (like digital signing, commenting, forms, exporting of images into Photoshop etc) are part of the full Acrobat Professional program from Adobe. Unfortunately, Professional is only available for Windows and won't even work under wine or crossover office. OTOH, there also exist several Windows programs that allow you to remove the password, so the file can then be printed etc. Again, these only work on Windows (AFAIK). Cheers, JPB |
